Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage)
Medicare Part C, also known as "Medicare Advantage," is a Medicare program that offers benefits by private insurance companies. These plans can provide more choice and extra benefits. Medicare Advantage Plans include:
Managed Care (Medicare HMOs)
,
Private Fee-for-Service
,
Preferred Provider Organization
, and
Special Needs
Plans. Everyone who has Medicare Parts A and B is eligible to join a plan, except most people with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
The program used to be called "Medicare + Choice."
